In a humidifier that performs humidification by heating and evaporating water supplied to a humidifying tank 1, the humidifying tank 1 is divided into an inner tank 2 filled with water and a pressure equalized with the atmosphere around the tank wall of the inner tank 2. The tank is formed into a heat-retaining double tank consisting of an outer tank 3 which retains an air layer 4, and the bottom of the inner tank 2 and the inside of the outer tank 3 located below the bottom are connected by a connecting pipe 5. A humidifier characterized in that an on-off valve 6 that is opened during forced drainage is interposed in the middle of the connecting pipe 5, and a drain pipe 7 having a drain valve 8 is connected to the bottom of the outer tank 3.
