Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the reliability of a connecting rod in terms of strength as well as to aim at the promotion of its lightweightiness, by coupling a big end and a cap part of the connecting rod after being clamped tight with a U- shaped metal device. CONSTITUTION:A big end 4 is installed in one end of a connecting rod 1, while a cap 5 is connected it together with this big end 4 via both of a crankshaft 6 and a metal 7, and outer surfaces of both flange parts 9 and 10 of the big end 4 and the cap 5 are provided with each of thick sloping surfaces 13 and 14 at the end part side. The tip of a machine bolt 16 being set in a tapped hole bored in and around the cap side of a U-shaped clamping metal device 15 which nippingly holds these flange parts 9 and 10 fitted in these sloping surfaces 13 and 14 is pushed against the sloping surface 14 of the cap 5 via a keep piece 18. With this, a contact area between these flange parts 9 and 10 and the camping metal device 15 can be made to be yet wider owing to the formation of these sloping surfaces 13 and 14, so that compression stress and creep both can be made smaller.

The connecting rod configured in this way receives the explosive force of the piston and connects the piston pin 3 and the crank ll'116.
Since the rod body 1 receives compressive force using the fulcrum, the body 1
The connecting rod must have sufficient strength and shape to withstand buckling force, and the piston reciprocates 2,000 to 5,000 times per N minute to rotate the crank, so the connecting rod reciprocates with the small end 2 and the big end 4. A rotational force is generated and the bolt 8 is transmitted to rotate the big end 4 and the cap 5. For this reason, the small end 2 generates bending stress due to inertia due to the reciprocating motion of the piston and piston pin, and requires sufficient strength at point A. Bending stress is generated due to inertia force or inertia force due to rotational movement, and the stress is particularly large at point B, cap 5, HC, point D, and bolt 8, so it was necessary to increase the rigidity of the shape. Therefore, conventional connecting rods are forged from carbon steel in order to withstand the above stress, but they are heavy and have a large inertial force, making the balance weight of the crank too heavy, and therefore requiring a large amount of driving energy.

Therefore, it is necessary to reduce the weight of the connecting rod, but if the connecting rod has a conventional structure made of fiber-reinforced composite material such as fiber-reinforced plastic, the flange portions 9 and 10 of the big end 4 and the cap 5 will have a diameter of 8 to

This invention was made in order to eliminate the drawbacks of the conventional products as described above, and the flange portion of the big end and the cap is clamped with a U-shaped fastening metal fitting, and the flange is fixed with a push bolt screwed into the fastening metal fitting. The purpose of the present invention is to provide a connecting rod made of a composite material that can be pressed against a surface to connect a big end and a cap, thereby increasing reliability in terms of strength and reducing weight.

In FIGS. 4 to 6, l is a rod body, and a small end 2 is provided at one end to be connected to a piston pin 3 via a metal 12. 4 is a big end provided at the other end of the rod body l; 5 is a crankshaft 6 along with the big end 4;
The cap is connected to the big end 4 and the cap 5 through the metal 7, and the respective flange parts 9 and 10 of the big end 4 and the cap 5 are connected to each other via the metal 7.
IrJ, whose outer surface is a thick slope on the end side 13.14
has been established. 1511 The flange portion 9.fits into this slope 13.14. The U-shaped fastener 16 that holds the lO is a push bolt that is screwed into a screw hole 17 on the cap 5 side of the fastener 15.

In addition, slopes 13.1 provided on the outer surfaces of the flange portions 9 and 10
Since the fastening metal fitting 15 is installed so as to fit into 4,
The fastening fitting 15 will not come off during rotation of the crankshaft 6. Furthermore, the slope 13. '14, the flange portion 9. Since the contact area between lO and the fastener 15 can be increased, compressive stress can be reduced and creep can be reduced.

In addition, as shown in FIGS. 7 and 8, the fastening fitting t and the flange portion 9. By configuring the fastening fitting 19 of the housing that encloses the lO, it is possible to prevent the fastening fitting from shifting in the thickness direction of the flange portion. Further, as another embodiment on the upper side, as shown in Fig. 9, an engaging part 20 consisting of a recess crossing these parts is provided on the side end face of the 7 run part 9 and 100, and a fastening metal fitting 15 is provided in this retaining part.
The fitting part 21 consisting of a convex part provided in the first
On the contrary, as shown in Figure 0, the 7 rung section 9. The same effect as described above can be obtained by providing a convex retaining portion 20a on the lO and fitting the concave fitting portion 21a provided on the fastening fitting 15 into this engaging portion.
