Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a shift in color when a display picture is seen while held at the horizontal angle by providing a beltlike color filter between a liquid crystal layer and a front-side polarizing plate at right angles to the erect direction of the display picture. CONSTITUTION:Transparent electrodes 6 and 8 supported by supporters 5 and 9 are provided on the front and rear surfaces of the liquid-crystal layer 7; and a polarizing plate 10 is provided on the rear surface of the supporter 9 and color filters 1-3 are provided on the front surface side of the supporter 5 in a beltlike shape at right angles to the erect direction of the display picture. Then, a polarizing plate 4 is provided thereupon. Consequently, even when the display picture is seen at some angle to the element, light which is passing through some color filter never passes through another color filter, so that no color shift is caused.

および背面側には夫々支持体5,9に支持された透明電
極6,8が設けられ、支持体5の前面側にはカラーフィ
ルタ1〜3を介して偏光板4が設けられ、さらに支持体
9の背面側には偏光板10が設けられる。
