Abstract

PURPOSE:To confine the damping force adjusting range of a hydraulic shock absorber within a range easily adjustable by general use by a structure wherein a controlling ring, the pivotable range of which is controlled by a stopper, is fitted onto a controlling nut. CONSTITUTION:An orifice 9, which axially pierces a piston fitted in a cylinder with oil sealed therewithin, and a needle valve 10, which adjusts the opening of said orifice 9, are provided. Damping force is adjusted by threadingly moving the controlling nut 15 threadingly fitted to a piston rod 8 at its outside end through a push rod 11 piercing the center axis of a piston rod 8 so as to move the needle valve 10 in order to adjust the opening of the orifice 9. The controlling ring 16, which allows the change of the relative angle with the axis center of said controlling nut 15 as a center, is fitted onto the controlling nut 15 and at the same time the pivotable range of the controlling ring 16 is controlled by the stopper 17 within a certain fixed range.
