Abstract

PURPOSE:To make the titled recording head adaptable to a hard recording body based on a metal drum without using a charge corotron, by forming the main electrode and the control electrode of an electrostatic recording head on a thin metal plate. CONSTITUTION:An electrostatic recording head 10 is constituted from a thin base metal plate 1 comprising phosophorus bronze, an insulating layer 2 comprising polyimide resin for covering the entire region of the single surface thereof, an integrated circuit 2 for a stylus drive circuit fixed on said insulating layer 2, lead electrodes 5 connected to said circuit 2 at predetermined intervals and provided with recording electrodes 4 at the leading end parts thereof, control electrodes 7 opposed to the recording electrodes 4 and respective insulating layers 6, 8. In this case, because the leading end part of the head 10 is attached to a hard recording body 9 so as to be contacted therewith by a proper elastic force and the metal plate 1 is flexibly contacted with said recording body 9 as a leaf spring, damage is not generated. In addition, because the control electrodes are provided, it is unnecessary to perform charging prior to recording and a charge corotron is eliminated.

In the above (() configuration, the drum 12 whose surface charge has been made zero by the erase corotron 18 is rotated while being controlled by the controller 20 at a peripheral speed, and electrostatic recording is performed at the position of the electrostatic recording head 10. In the electrostatic recording head 10, a DC voltage (for example, +400v) is applied to the control electrode 7,
In addition, to the recording 'E pole 4, one line of voltage is simultaneously distributed to each stylus by the image signal DS and enable signal ES output from the control unit 20 (for example, 11

Next, the toner is applied with the acupuncture device 14 to obtain a visible image, and then, at the installation position 1δ of the transfer corotron 16, the transfer corotron 16 applies the toner to the plain paper 15 that is fed in synchronization with the rotation of the drum 12. Transfer of the visible image is effected by an applied high voltage (eg -5 kV). The transferred plain paper 15 is fed out of the recording apparatus, and the drum 12 is cleaned by a cleaner 17, and the static charge on the recording medium 11 is erased by an erase corotron 18 using an AC corotron.
