Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate an erroneous detection due to the mixture of external light other than the desired light for a display device by applying specific modulation to the light sent from a light source and detecting correlatively a specified modulation signal at the photodetecting side in a display device. CONSTITUTION:Modulated signal generators 41 and 44 produce different modulated signals corresponding to light sources 43 and 46 respectively. For instance, the modulated signal transmitted from a light source 43-i is different from those modulated signals applied to the light of other light source. The modulated signals received by photodetecting elements 47 and 51 are demodulated, and only fluctuated signals allotted by decoders 49 and 53 are detected. A deciding part 55 decides the absence of output 50 or 54. If a part where no output is generated, the coordinates on a light-shielded surface is decided and delivered by said part having no output.
