For shielding purposes, cables such as flat cables, ribbon cables, coaxial cables, etc. are coated with a conductive or semiconductive layer on their outer surface to provide a common electrode. However, in order to connect a connector to such a cable, the connector is provided with a terminal pin having a forked tip, and the terminal pin is cut into the insulation of the cable to connect the cable. A method has been proposed for connecting a connector to a cable by making the forked ends of the terminal pins straddle and contact the conductor of the cable.

However, in such a method, prior to cutting the terminal pin into the insulator, a conductive or semiconductive layer as described above is preliminarily deposited on the surface of the insulator. I have to peel it off and remove it.
In the first place, such a layer needs to be firmly adhered to the cable so that it does not peel off when the cable is used. Peeling and removing as described above is extremely time-consuming and troublesome.Furthermore, for example, when connecting a connector to a mid-way portion of a cable, it is particularly difficult to peel and remove a portion of the layer. Therefore, the present invention provides a method for removing conductive or semiconductive layers as described above without prior partial stripping, i.e., without any prior modification of such layers. It is an object of the present invention to provide a method in which the terminal pins are cut into the insulator from above so that the connector can be connected to the cable.

In this embodiment, the cable 1 is held in the state shown by suitable means (as shown), and the connector member 4a is connected to its forked terminal pins Tl, .t2, t39, .
. . . are arranged so as to face the layer 3 of the cable 1, and the intermediate portions of the forked portions of these terminal pins are aligned with the conductors Cl, C2, C3, . . . of the cable 1, respectively, and In this state, the connector member 4a is pushed down to the position indicated by the dotted line by an appropriate means (not shown), and the terminal pins Tl, t2, t3, . . . are connected to the cable. The conductors Cl, C2, C3 of the cable are cut into the insulator 2 through the layer 3 of 1 and between the forked parts of the terminal pins Tl, t2, t3, . . . as shown in the figure.
,... are sandwiched between them. By this,
Conductors Cl, C2, C3, . . . of the cable 1 are connected to terminal pins Tl, t2, t3, .
In addition, in this case, each terminal pin Tl, t2, t3,...
... is in contact with the conductive or semiconductive layer 3. After that, each terminal pin Tl, t2, t3, .
Electricity is applied between the forked tips protruding from the insulator 2 of the layer 3, which contacts the base of each terminal pin.
The contact area is removed by Joule heat. This layer 3
If it is made into a conductive layer, the thickness is 10
A suitable material is a thermoplastic plastic film (for example, Mylar film) of about 25 .mu.m and covered with aluminum foil about 5 to 10 .mu.m thick. If the layer 3 is a semiconductive layer, a thermoplastic plastic film with carbon particles dispersed therein is suitable. Thus, according to the invention, the terminal pins T,,t
2, t3, . . . are formed by cutting into the insulator 2 of the cable 1
2, t3, . . . , the contact of the conductive or semiconductive layer 3 of the cable 1 is removed at once. After removing the contact in this way, hold the connector holding member 4b to the dotted line position shown in the figure and insert the terminal pins Tl, t2t of the connector member 4a into its socket holes (not shown).
3. Insert the tip of the connector, and then tighten and fix both members of the connector to the dotted line shown in the figure using screws or any other suitable means (not shown). , This completes the connection of the connector to the cable. As can be understood from the above description, according to the present invention, there is no need to peel off and remove the layer 3 in the portion where the connector is to be connected in advance (--therefore, the work is simple, and the layer 3 is not attached). It is easy to select an adhesive for bonding.

Furthermore, since the energization for removing the layer 3 as described above can be automated, work efficiency can be increased and the electrical characteristics of the cable can also be tested. Furthermore, since there is no need to peel off and remove layer 3 as described above, it becomes very easy to connect the connector to the middle part of the cable, and
Because layer 3 exists up to the very vicinity of the connector,
Various excellent effects such as uniform electrical characteristics of the cable can be obtained. It should be noted that those skilled in the art will easily understand that the energization method for removing the layer 3 is not limited to the above-mentioned method, and that various methods can be used within the scope of the present invention. Furthermore, although the method of the present invention was explained above in the case of applying it to a flat cable, the method of the present invention can also be applied to ribbon cables, coaxial cables, etc. It will be readily understood that the same applies to cables as well.
