One form of ear tag known to date is U.S. Patent Specification No. 5.552. This can be seen on Os No. 1, which is an ear tag with a body section designed to carry appropriate markings. Body part)! Connecting to an elongated neck, the distal end of the neck follows or is formed into a head portion, the head portion having a shoulder extending laterally to and from the head portion and the neck portion. The head and neck are made of elastic material. The shoulders are folded together and against the neck to allow passage through gaps made in the animal's ears. Passing through the slot in the animal's ear, the shoulders are restored (by their elasticity) to their original position extending outwardly from the neck. The ears are then positioned between the upper surface of the body portion and the lower surface of the shoulder. This action tends to cause the earpiece to somehow maintain the tag in place.

To attach the tag of the present invention to an animal's ear, a slit or notch is made in the animal's ear using a suitable fitting or tool. The attachment then penetrates the head portion 6 of the tag into this slot or notch, in this case elastically compressing the head portion 6, the shaft portion 5 and the elongated earlobe member 7, and causing the earlobe member 7 to pivot. 5 and pass them through the slit or incision in the animal's ear. Head part 6
When the earlobe members 7 are passed through the slits or notches in the animal's ear 10, the elasticity of the material causes the earlobe members 7 to return to their initial position or orientation, where they are positioned behind the head portion B. Extends to. Thus, by further compression, the head portion 6 is positioned to one side of the ear (as shown in FIGS. 3 and 4) and contacts the adjacent side of the ear 10 at a substantial number of points, thereby causing the ear to collapse. The tag in position 10 helps to ensure the position of tag rXJ. As can be seen, the point of contact with the ear 10 or ear part 10A is the adjacent surface of the head portion 6 and the earlobe member 7. Ear part 10A1 head part 6 and earlobe member 7
This contact between the head portion and the area covered by the elongated rearwardly extending earlobe member 7 extends. Therefore, if the main body 1 of the attached bill is from the ear to draw the attached bill (
When grasped or pulled (as shown in FIG. 4), the head portion and the two rearwardly extending earlobe members 7 all act on the underside of the ear 10A to prevent movement and removal of the tag. The contact points (head portion 6 and earlobe member 7) spread pressure near the ear, around the slit or notch, and spread pressure far from there to prevent the tag from being removed or to make it difficult to remove. do.

In FIGS. 1 to 4, the marking according to the present invention is labeled r.
Once the XJ is in place on the animal's ear, the head portion 6
Since the elongated earlobe member 7 comes into contact with an adjacent portion of the ear surface 10a, when pressure is applied to the tag (e.g. when attempting to pull the tag out of a cut or slot made in an animal's ear), Pressure is exerted over the head portion 6 and the area of the earlobe member 7 extending rearwardly. This prevents the material from deforming or being pulled out of the cut or slot, since the load does not spread over substantially the entire area, creating localized stresses in the cut, cut or slot. In fact, in use, if pressure is applied to the tag (and in particular if pressure is applied to the body part 1 or the marking part 2 of the tag), the earlobe member 7 (as shown in Figure 4) will deform. or mutually move inwardly, which acts as a fixed function,
The head part 6 and the earlobe member 7 are more firmly fixed to the ear. In this way, it is possible to prevent even more severe attempts to remove the tag from the ear.

By providing a neck portion 5 having a generally smaller area than the marking portion 2, a stepped portion is provided which separates the marking portion 2 remote from the ear. In other words, the neck 3 abuts the ear and holds the marking part 2 almost independently from the ear. Therefore, the marking portion 2 is always clearly visible.
