Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a glow plug having a heat conductivity with sufficiency to shorten a red heat time and an improved durability, by electrically insulating a heat coil with a AlN sintered member having an increased heat conductivity, a coefficient of thermal expansion substantially equivalent to that of heat coil and an improved oxidizing stability at an elevated temperature. CONSTITUTION:A ceramic heater 1 electrically insulated 3 by means of AlN sintered member is constituted around the outer periphery of heat coil such as W-M0 alloy and the like. The heat coil 2 has its one end extended in a linear configuration, penetrated through an electrically insulated portion 3 and connected with an internal support member 4, while having its other end connected with a connecting ring 6 supported on the internal surface of glow plug body 5. The internal support member 4 is provided via a seal member 7 and a electrically insulting cylindrical member 8 and the like to the internal surface of glow plug body 5.
