Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the overmuch deposition of stains, etc., as well as exactly remove the stains by integrally incorporating a porous part to remove stains adhered to a nozzle cap and a cleaner to a tank as an exchangeable part to store ink. CONSTITUTION:A nozzle cap 21 turns in the direction of arrow, and the tips of the nozzles 3a and 3b of an ink jet head 3 are cleaned by rubbing by means of a cleaner 24a, during which period ink is jetted from the nozzle 3b. While flowing ink, the tip end of the nozzle 3a is cleaned by the cleaner 24a. Ink and stains adhered to the nozzle cap 21 are removed out by the porous part 25 in this way. The porous part 25, which is incorporated integrally with tanks 4 and 5, is exchanged at the same time as the tanks 4 and 5 are exchanged. These are renewed each time the exchange is made, and stains adhered to the nozle cap 21 can thus be exactly removed out.

Each time these nozzle caps and cleaners are operated, they become contaminated by ink discharged from the nozzles and surrounding dust and dirt. To remove these stains, methods such as scraping with a thin plate or wiping with a porous material have been used, but since these are both installed on the printer body, dirt can accumulate over long periods of use. This has the disadvantage of having an adverse effect on the printer itself or the inkjet head.

The structure of the printer 1 has been briefly described above, and its operation will be explained in detail. The printing means 2 mainly consists of an inkjet head 3 (shown in FIG. 2) and tanks 4 and 5. The inkjet head 3 shown in FIG.
Printing is performed by applying a high voltage to the piezoelectric element 29 using an ink-on-demand type inkjet head to eject ink from the nozzle 3a. Ink is stored in tank 4 or 5. The printing means 2 is moved in parallel to the printing paper 6 by the drive of the motor 7 via the gears 9 and 11 and the lobe 13. The motor 7 is a pulse motor that performs stepwise rotational motion in response to pulse input, and the printing means 2 also performs reciprocating motion in synchronization with the motor 7.

As shown in FIG. 4, the nozzle cap 21 is a cylindrical rotating member, and a resilient member 24 is inserted into a frame 23. As shown in FIG. The rotating shaft 19 and the coil spring 22 are in close contact with each other, and one end 22 (E) of the coil spring 22 is engaged with the notch 23α of the frame 23. As the motor 18 rotates, the rotating shaft 19 rotates clockwise as shown by the arrow. The coil spring 22 functions as a spring clutch and is wound around the rotating shaft 19, and the end 22a of the coil spring 22 hooks the notch 23α of the frame 23, causing the nozzle to rotate in the direction of the arrow. The camp 21 rotates in the direction of the arrow. Also, when paper is fed, it rotates counterclockwise, but in this case, the close contact between the rotating shaft 19 and the coil spring 22 becomes loose, causing slippage between them.

As shown in FIG. 1, the four parts 24b are composed of two four parts corresponding to each of a pair of ink print heads 3 that perform two-color printing. Clean the tip of 3b by rubbing it. At this time the third
By applying a high voltage to the piezoelectric element 29α shown in the figure,
Spray more ink. There are several methods of ejecting this, such as ejecting it as ink droplets similar to a printing nozzle, ejecting it as ink droplets larger than a printing nozzle, and ejecting it so that it flows from the nozzle rather than ink droplets. In this embodiment, the third ink flows out. The conditions at this time were 5 vertical lines, 10 horizontal words,
A voltage of approximately 50 V is applied to the piezoelectric element 29α with a thickness of 0.2 mm.
Control is performed to repeat application of rns and off for 1 ms. The cross section of the tip of the nozzle 3b is a square with one side of 02 squares. As a result, the ink ejected from the nozzle 6b accumulates on the tip surface of the nozzle 3b, as shown in FIG. The cleaner 24α of the nozzle gap 21 rotating in the direction of arrow G cleans the tip surface of the nozzle 3α while sweeping away ink. New ink flows out from the nozzle 3b, so by repeating the cleaning, the highly viscous ink, dried ink, dust, clumps, etc. adhering to the tip surface of the nozzle 6α are completely cleaned, and the inkjet head 3 is completely cleaned. This ensures proper performance. At this time, cleaning may be performed while ejecting ink from the printing nozzle 3cL instead of the nozzle 3b.

Next, if air bubbles occur inside the ink side head 3 or if the viscosity of the ink in the nozzle 3a increases, cleaning is performed while jetting ink from both the nozzle 6cL and the nozzle 3b. This means that the ink that oozes out little by little from the nozzle 3cL comes from the cleaner 24.
This is because by repeating jetting and cleaning, air bubbles, viscous ink, etc. inside the inkjet head 3 are removed, and the inkjet head 3 is completely restored to a printable state. The ink that falls down the end face of the nozzle passes through the channel filter G and is collected into a waste liquid tank (not shown). Further, ink, dirt, etc. adhering to the nozzle cap 21 are removed by the porous member 25. As shown in FIG. 6, this porous member 25 is integrated with the tanks 4 and 5, and is replaced at the same time as the tanks 4 and 5.
It is possible to reliably remove dirt adhering to 1. Further, since the porous member 25 is provided in each of the pair of inkjet heads B, even when two-color printing is performed, the colors of the respective inks will not be mixed. The outer diameter of the nozzle cap 21 is 30 mm, and the rotation speed is 100 mm.

As a result, the porous member that removes discharged ink from the nozzle, surrounding dust, and dirt that has adhered to the nozzle cap and cleaner is replaced at the same time as the tank that stores the ink, so that too much dirt and grime accumulates.
