A video tape recorder that is disposed on a pace chassis and is equipped with a cylinder unit consisting of a lower cylinder and a rotatable upper cylinder, and a supply reel that supplies magnetic tape, and prevents deflection of the magnetic tape that occurs during unloading. In a magnetic tape deflection prevention device for a video tape recorder, a drive means capable of rotating the lower cylinder is provided, and a transmission means is provided for transmitting the rotational force of the lower cylinder to the supply reel.
