The conventional method is to cure by condensation reaction.

Phosphoric acid is a useful curing catalyst because it is easy to handle, has few drawbacks such as corrosion, and has little negative impact on cast products, but it does not cure uniformly inside the mold, is highly hygroscopic, and has poor compatibility with furan resin. As a result of low mold strength, it is difficult to obtain mold strength.

It is not used much at present because it generates 0x. Compared to them, organic sulfonic acid catalysts have fewer of these drawbacks and are currently the most commonly used catalysts35, but they still have the risk of adverse effects due to sulfur. The present invention relates to a molding sand composition containing a curing catalyst with the aim of improving these drawbacks. This invention relates to a composition for curing a furan resin with a compound represented by the following group or a mixture thereof.

Although the furan resin is produced by the method described in Publication No. 01, etc., commercially available furan resins are usually sufficient, and the present invention is not particularly limited thereto. In addition, the sand used is not particularly limited to sand, but so-called silica sand or chromite sand with a high silica content, which is generally used as molding sand, is suitable.
