Abstract

PURPOSE:To make smooth insertion of a paper, by a method wherein a printing head side one of a pair of guide plates for guiding a paper to be inserted is so fitted that it can be freely advanced and retracted with respect to an opposed position of a front surface of a platen. CONSTITUTION:When the paper 8 fed by rollers 6, 7 reaches the front surface of the platen 5, it is detected by a sensor (not shown), a solenoid 15 is excited by a detection signal, a lever 17 is rotated until it comes into contact with a stopper 21, and a movable guide plate 10 is advanced to a position opposed to the platen 5 (as indicated by an imaginary line). In this condition, the paper 8 is smoothly fed between the guide plates 9, 10, the supply of an electric current to the solenoid 15 is interrupted by a detection signal from a sensor detecting this condition, the lever 17 is returned by the force of a spring 20, and the guide plate 10 is retracted from the front surface of the platen 5. Then, the head 1 prints on the paper 8.

Conventionally, there are printers that pull out a printing ribbon along a platen and move the printing ribbon along the platen.
The rolling paper is guided by a guide plate. However, since a guide plate cannot be installed between the print head and the platen, when the cut paper is automatically fed in, the paper may come off the paper path, causing the paper jam to occur on the print ribbon. There are problems such as interference.

In this invention, paper is guided between a platen and a print head using a pair of opposing guide plates, but one of these guide plates is retracted from the front of the platen during printing to allow movement of the print head. When inserting paper, the guide plate is advanced to the front of the platen at the timing when the print head is positioned at the edge of the platen, and this allows the paper to be smoothly guided between the platen and the print head, preventing paper jams. The structure is such that it is possible to prevent the occurrence of entanglement between the printing ribbon and the paper, folding of the edges of the paper, etc.

In such a configuration, the paper (8) is moved by the feed roller (6).
The paper (8) is fed by the bar 7) and reaches the front of the platen (5), but in the meantime, a sensor (not shown) detects the paper (8), and the detection signal causes the solenoid Q! 19 is excited. Therefore, the lever 0η rotates as shown by the imaginary line in FIG. 3 until it hits the stopper 7, and the guide plate q
q also advances to a position facing the platen (5). In this state, the paper (8) is smoothly fed between the guide plates (9) Q (J). Therefore, the paper (8) may deviate from the correct path, become jammed, or become tangled with the printing ribbon 1. , there is no chance of the leading edge being bent. The paper (8) is
) When the solenoid is fed between αQ, the current to the solenoid α is cut off under the control of the sensor detection signal, and the lever (17
) is restored by the force of the spring wire, and the guide plate (it)
is retracted from the front of the platen (5). Guide plate (9)
advances when the print head (rips) is located at the home position at the end of the platen (5), and prints on the guide plate (9).
This is done after the two have evacuated, so there is no interference between the two.
