Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to shorten a printing time, by a method wherein each color inks on a transfer ribbon are successively transferred to a transfer medium part having a peripheral length corresponding to the length of the printing area of paper to form a multicolor latent image which is, in turn, transferred to the paper in a batch. CONSTITUTION:When printing is started, a transfer roll 8 is upwardly moved to be contacted with a thermal head 1 under pressure through a transfer ribbon 2 and each heat generating element thereof is selectively heated by the supply of a current while a roll 8 is driven to successively transfer a magenta image due to magenta ink, a cyan image and an yellow image on the peripheral surface thereof in a superimposed state. In the next step, the transfer roll 8 is downwardly moved to be contacted with a heat generator 9 under pressure through paper 6 and the color latent image is transferred to the paper 6 in a batch by the heat generation over the entire surface thereof and the drivings of the paper and the roll 8. By this method, color printing can be performed without reversely returning the paper and a printing time can be shortened and inconvenience of color shift or the like can be removed.

。第1図はこのような熱転写多色記録装置の一例を示す
斜視図である。この図にシいて、1はサーマルヘッドで
あり、このサーマルヘッド1には以下の様にして転写リ
ボン2が張設されている。すなわちこの転写リボン2は
長さ方向に区分(この区分長は用紙の印刷長と同じにな
っている)され、これによシ得られた各エリアにマゼン
ダインク、シアンインク、イエローインク、マゼンダイ
フクーーーーー が順次塗布されたものであり、転写リ
ボンロール3から供給され、転写リボン巻取シロール4
によって巻き取られるようになっている。またこのサー
マルヘッド1の下方にはプラテンローラ5が設けられ、
このプラテンローラ5には用紙ロール7から供給これる
用紙6が張設されている。この用紙6は前記転写リボン
2上の各インクによって印刷されるものである。このよ
うな構成になる熱転写多色記録装置においては、印刷時
にサーマルへラド1およびプラテンローラ5によって転
写リボン2と用紙6とが密着され、この状態でサーマル
ヘッド1が通電加熱されると共に、転写リボン2および
用紙6が駆動されて、まず1回目の色、例えばマゼンダ
が用紙、6に転写される。次にサーマルヘッド1とプラ
テン5とが離されて用紙6だけがス、p−ト位+iまで
戻され、次いでサーマルヘッド1およびプラテンローラ
5によシ転写リボン2と用紙6とが再び密着されると共
に、用紙6のマゼンダ像(前記マゼンダインクの転写像
)上に次の色インク、例えばシアンインクが転写され、
2回目の転写が行なわれる5次に3回目にかいては、用
紙6のマゼンダ・シアン混合像上に次の色インクである
イエローインクが転写されカラー印刷が終了する。この
ようにこの熱転写多色記録装置に卦いては、3色の色を
重ね印刷することによυ、第2図に示すような各色を得
るようになっているう ところで従来のこの種の熱転写多色記録装置にシいては
、印刷時に用紙を逆戻しして重ね印刷を行なうようにな
っているから、用紙を戻す分だけ印刷時間が長くなると
共に、用紙をスタート位置まで正確に戻すことが錐しく
色ずれが発生する等の不都合があった。
