The double-cylinder sock knitting machine (Ripunitsuta) has an upper cylinder and a lower cylinder installed opposite each other, and double-ended needles can be freely transferred to the upper and lower cylinders. By pulling down the sock fabric with a take-up roll installed below the lower cylinder, the sock fabric is pulled down to prevent back stitches from overlapping and to make the knitted fabric uniform. It is necessary to remove the knitting yarn from the needle at each stitch and separate the socks one leg at a time using air suction, or to remove the long sock fabric from the knitting machine, insert scissors into the cutting position, and remove the threads to separate each leg one at a time. However, according to the former method of dividing the sock fabric, even if the sock fabric has a very short size at the beginning of knitting, even if it is suctioned with air, there is little pulling effect, and problems such as damage to the needle or slider due to the removal of the knitting yarn are likely to occur. In addition, the knitted fabric may be damaged and lose its texture, and the latter parting work is simple and requires patience, and if the scissors are inserted in the wrong position, it will result in defective products. There is a risk of contamination when taking out the sock fabric from the tank.

In addition, a device is proposed that sprays hot air or water on the sock fabric that has been pulled down and hanging down below the take-up roll device to separate it from the heat-soluble or water-soluble knitting yarn portion that has been knitted into the knitted fabric in advance. However, since the sock fabric divided by this device has not been turned over, it requires a tow stitching step and an additional step of turning the front and back sides of the knitted fabric.

At this time, the phototube 19 detects the location of the sock fabric 18 where the heat-soluble or water-soluble yarns to be cut are knitted, measures the timing at which the cut location reaches the cutting device 20, and sends a delay signal to cut the sock fabric.
