Abstract

PURPOSE:To realize the favorable penetrating conditions of resin into base material during drying by a method wherein the impregnation of resin into the base material is divided into two stages and the drying after the primary impregnation is performed by radiant heat drying and that after the secondary impregnation by hot air drying. CONSTITUTION:A base material 1 is made to a resin-impregnated base material 1' by being coated with primary impregnation resin liquid 2 in a tank 3 by means of a coating roll 4 and then introduced in a tunnel-type radiant heat drying zone 5 in order to be dried with the radiant heat of 250-300 deg.C. After that, the base material 1' is introduced by a guide roll 8 in a tank 7 so as to be impregnated with secondary impregnation resin liquid 6 in order to be made to the resin-impregnated base material 1'' and then introduced in a hot air drying zone 9 in order to be dried with the hot air of 150-160 deg.C. Oil pipes 51 and 52, within which hot oils flow respectively, are provided near the ceiling and bottom of said radiant heat drying zone 5 and between which the resin-impregnated base material 1' is moved in the direction indicated with the arrow.

Immerse it in a resin liquid such as phenol resin and immediately send it to a hot air dryer to dry it (1-pass method).
Impregnation with J fat is divided into two stages: primary and secondary (2-pass method)
For example, in the first impregnation, a water-soluble phenol varnish is used, and in the second impregnation, the whole is impregnated with a thermosetting phenol varnish - in either case, drying after impregnation is carried out by hot air drying. The obtained dry resin-impregnated base material is laminated in a predetermined number and hot-pressed to form a laminate. However, when drying the resin-impregnated base material only by hot air drying in this way, V
In the Cl4,l pass method, the permeability of the resin into the crystal phase during drying is poor, so depending on the drying speed, the resin-impregnated base material may become sticky, and the punching workability and electrical properties of the laminate may be poor. In the two-pass method, the resin-impregnated base material breaks during drying, and a large amount of solvent is required to adjust the resin content during the primary impregnation.

In the method of the present invention, since the drying after the primary impregnation is performed using radiant heat, the state of penetration of the resin into the base material during the primary drying is good. Therefore, the primary impregnating liquid does not require a large amount of solvent, and is sufficiently dried to eliminate stickiness, and the punching workability and insulation performance of the resulting laminate are improved. There is no shortage of base material. This is compared with that of a laminate obtained by a conventional example and is summarized in the following table.
