However, in recent years, the use of this phosphate has been regulated because it is believed that it causes eutrophication in oceans, rivers, and lakes, and there is a trend towards regulating the use of phosphate, which is equivalent to using powder without it. Research has begun on granular detergents that demonstrate their physical properties and detergency.

On the other hand, α-sulfo fatty acid ester salts are attracting attention as detergent ingredients because they are surfactants with excellent detergency and dirt dispersibility, and are resistant to hard water. has problems with its powder properties, such as low fluidity and solidification due to load and moisture absorption during storage. (Japanese Unexamined Patent Publication No. 57-28507), and in combination with soap and polycarboxylic acid salts (Japanese Unexamined Patent Publication No. 57-28507).
Although various proposals have been made, such as Japanese Patent Publication No. 180699), none of them are necessarily satisfactory when compared with granular detergents containing phosphate builders.

The present inventors have conducted extensive research to develop a detergent composition that does not contain phosphates and is comparable to conventional granular detergents in detergency and powder physical properties. It was surprisingly discovered that when alkyl sulfate and polyethylene glycol were blended together with salt, a granular detergent with excellent detergency and good powder physical properties could be obtained, even when phosphate was added. Based on this knowledge, the present invention was made. Specifically, the present invention provides a granular detergent containing α-sulfo fatty acid ester salt as the main active ingredient, based on the weight of α-sulfo fatty acid ester salt. α used as the main active ingredient in the composition of the present invention
-Sulfo fatty acid ester salt is a compound represented by the general formula % (1) (in which R1 and R2 are an alkyl group and M is a cation), where R1 has 4 carbon atoms.
-20 alkyl group, and R2 is preferably an alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms. Such an α-sulpo fatty acid ester salt can be produced by a conventional method using, for example, a fatty acid having 6 to 22 carbon atoms as a raw material, but hydrogenated beef tallow fatty acid and hydrogenated palm oil fatty acid are preferable as the raw fatty acid. In the above general formula, the alkyl groups R1 and R2 may be linear or branched. R2 is preferably a methyl group, an ethyl group, an n-propyl group, or an isopropyl group. Further, the cation M is preferably an alkali metal such as sodium or potassium. Similarly, the alkyl sulfate used in the present invention has 8 to 8 carbon atoms.
It can be produced according to a conventional method using No. 20 higher alcohol as a raw material.

The granular detergent composition of the present invention can also be produced by powder-mixing the α-sulfo fatty acid salt, the alkyl sulfate, and the polyethylene glycol together with other optional ingredients as necessary, but in general, a detergent slurry is first prepared. It is manufactured by preparing and spray-drying it.
