Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture an adhesive polyolefin sheet by a method wherein a resin which does not adhere to the adhesive polyolefin and does not stick to a cooling roll is extruded as the outermost layer of a multi-layer sheet together with other layers and the outermost layer only is peeled off. CONSTITUTION:A core layer 1, an adhesive polyolefin layer 2 and a resin layer 3 which does not adhere to the adhesive polyolefin layer 2 are melted, kneaded and extruded by extruders 4, 4' and 4'' and made solid by a die 5 to form a multi-layer simultaneously extruded sheet 7 and the sheet 7 is cooled and solidized by a cooling roll 6. After the sheet 7 passes a drawing roll 8, the said resin layer 3 is peeled off from the adhesive polyolefin layer 2 to obtain a required polyolefin sheet 9. The core layer 1 and the adhesive polyolefin adhesive layer 2 may be composed of the same composition, i.e. the core layer 1 may be the adhesive polyolefin layer itself. Said sheet is applied to a metal-polyolefin-metal structural body.

The fully flexural polyolefin sheet/metal sandwich structure can be manufactured by applying surface treatment such as corona discharge to both sides of the polyolefin sheet and then bonding it to metal such as aluminum using an epoxy resin diluent. A method is used in which adhesive polyolefin films having excellent adhesion to metals are interposed on both sides of a polyolefin sheet and the film is heat-sealed by pressing with a press or the like.

In the method of hot pressing a polyolefin sheet with adhesive polyolefin films interposed on both sides, the work efficiency will be reduced unless the polyolefin sheet and adhesive polyolefin film are integrated in advance. Co-extrusion of the polyolefin sheet and adhesive polyolefin film may be considered as a way to integrate the polyolefin sheet and the adhesive polyolefin film, but it may be difficult to control the temperature of the take-up roll sufficiently or to increase the production Δ. High-speed extrusion has the disadvantage that the surface area of the cooling roll increases and the adhesive polyolefin film adheres to the roll.

It is integrated in a die 5, formed into a coextruded five-layer sheet 7, and cooled and solidified in a cooling roll 6. After passing through the take-up roll 8, the resin layer 3 is peeled off from the adhesive polyolefin layer 2 to obtain the desired adhesive polyolefin sheet 9 having the adhesive polyolefin layer 2 as the outermost layer.

As is clear from Table 1, if a resin layer is not stacked on the surface and coextruded, the resin will adhere to the cooling roll at 80°C, whereas in the present invention, the surface temperature of the cooling roll is 12,000°C. However, if the resin layer is not made of a material different from that of the adhesive polyolefin, it will not be possible to release it after cooling, and the desired adhesive polyolefin sheet will not be obtained.

As mentioned above, according to the present invention, even if the temperature of the cooling roll increases by 1" during extrusion molding at high speed, the grease-resistant resin will not adhere to the cooling roll, so that the polyolefin can be efficiently contacted with the cooling roll. It is possible to produce sheets, and its industrial value is enormous.
