Abstract

PURPOSE:A marine sessile life-combatting agent that contains, as an active ingredient, peroxysulfuric acid or its salt, thus preventing marine sessile life such as mussels, acorn barnacles or hydrozoas from adhering to facilities, when sea water is used as a coolant in thermoelectric power plants or iron mills. CONSTITUTION:The titled agent contains, as an active ingredient, peroxysulfuric acid (H2SO5) or its salt such as potassium hydrogen persulfate. When sea water is used as a coolant, the resultant agent prevents marine lives such as mussels from adhering onto walls of canals and heat exchangers whereby clogging of pipings, reduction in cooling efficiency, damage in facilities can be avoided. The dose of the agent is 0.1-100mg/l as SO5<2-> and the agent develops its effect in short contact (about 1hr) with early larvae of these lives in low concentrations.

[Detailed Description of the Invention] Seawater is used in large quantities as industrial cooling water in thermal power plants, steel mills, petrochemical factories, and the like. Seawater organisms such as mussels, barnacles, and hydrozoans adhere to the seawater channels and heat exchangers of this cooling water system, resulting in blockage of pipes, reduction in the amount of seawater sampled, reduction in cooling efficiency, and even damage to equipment. This may lead to problems.

Conventionally, chlorine, formalin, and heavy metal compounds have been used to prevent damage caused by these attached organisms. However, these chemicals are dangerous to handle, are toxic to edible fish and seaweed, and have problems such as environmental destruction due to residual toxicity.

The agent of the present invention is added as SO in cooling water at 0.1 to 1
It is sufficient to add about 00~/shade. Taking the mussel as an example of a sessile organism, the fertilized egg enters the sessile life and becomes a member of the sessile life during the trochotoa, D-autumn, and ambo stages. Because mussels that have become members of the sessile life stage have strong shells (bivalve molluscs), they are highly resistant to chemicals, and in order to kill them for the purpose of pest control, they must be brought into contact with strong poisons at high concentrations for long periods of time. Must be. However, since the drug of the present invention acts on early stage larvae, it can be applied at low concentrations for a short period of time (about 1 hour).

When the drug of the present invention is added to the entire cooling water, the entire oxygen generator in the water is released. The oxygen from this generator effectively inhibits the activity of early larvae and prevents them from attaching to the cooling water system. The drug of the present invention is a strong oxidizing agent that decomposes quickly in water, and the decomposition products are non-toxic inorganic substances.
Unlike chlorine agents, it does not cause secondary pollution outside the drainage channel due to residual chlorine.
