より積層されたディスク1の内1枚を選択し、左右方向
の移動によってディスク1上の記録トラックより1本を
選択する。本実施例の構成によれば、上側ヘッド6およ
び下側ヘッド4の担当するディスク1上の記録領域が一
方向に限定されるため、ヘッドを回転させるための機構
が不必要であり、構成が簡単なものとなる。また上側ヘ
ッド3と下側ヘッド4とは独立して動くことができるか
ら、例えば上側ヘッド3で情報の記録または再生を行な
っている間に下側ヘッド4は次に記録または再生を行な
う場所を探すように記録および再生のソフトウェアを構
成することにより、検索時間を短縮することが可能とな
