Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve stability for long term storage of oleophilic fine powder by transforming the powder to liquid suspension by mixing the powder with molten wax and mixing the mixture further with an emulsifier. CONSTITUTION:Fluid A is prepd. by mixing oleophilic fine powder with molten wax. On one hand, an emulsifying liquid B is prepd. by dissolving a cationic surface active agent, a nonionic surface active agent, and hydrochloric acid in warm water. The fluid A is mixed with the emulsifying liquid B in an emulsifying machine to prepare a liquid suspension C. The product is cooled to ordinary temp. and then filtered by a filter to separate to a suspension of slurry D and wax emulsion E. An emulsifier F consisting of the cationic surface active agent, nonionic surface active agent and hydrychloric acid, is added to the suspension of slurry D, and the mixture is stirred to prepare the aimed emulsified liquid.

If the fine particles are nonpolar (lipophilic), they can be dispersed in nonpolar liquids such as oil, and if the fine particles are polar (hydrophilic), they can be dispersed in polar liquids. This is a well-known fact.

However, it is impossible to disperse nonpolar fine particles in water, which is a polar solvent, and a surfactant must be used for this purpose. Therefore, a common method is to dissolve a surfactant in water in advance and disperse the lipophilic fine powder by stirring.

However, according to this method, even if the lipophilic fine powder is dispersed by a surfactant, the long-term stability is poor due to the weak adsorption ability of the surfactant to the lipophilic fine powder, and reaggregation is likely to occur. It is difficult to obtain a stable suspension.

One possible solution to this problem is to increase the viscosity of the system, but this method does not have a temporary preventive effect and also causes problems in workability.

The present invention aims to solve the above-mentioned drawbacks by mixing lipophilic fine powder with heated and melted wax, mixing it with an emulsion containing a surfactant as a main ingredient, and suspending it. This suspension is filtered to create a suspension slurry, and by mixing and emulsifying this suspension slurry with an emulsion different from the above emulsion, a stable aqueous suspension of lipophilic fine powder is obtained. The product obtained as described above becomes a very stable suspension. At present, a lipophilic suspension can be obtained using a mixed solution of lipophilic fine powder and wax, and an emulsion of a surfactant. This is because the surface of lipophilic fine powder is usually composed of complex components, so it is thought that the adsorption ability of surfactants is weak, but when the components are coated with simple wax as in the present invention, The adsorption ability of the surfactant is very good and a stable suspension can be obtained.

Furthermore, wax emulsions are obtained in this case together with lipophilic fine powder suspensions. For this purpose, an extremely stable suspension can be obtained by filtering with a filter to obtain a lipophilic fine powder suspension slurry and re-emulsifying it with an emulsifying liquid.
