PURPOSE:To prevent formation of an under fill in the outside corner at a curved part in the stage of curving a metallic plate material to an L shape by heating preliminarily the curved part to form a bulging part then pressing the material to an L shape by means of a press die provided with side dies. CONSTITUTION:Manufacture of an L-shaped fork for a fork lift is accomplished by clamping a steel plate 1 which is a material for the fork by clamping devices 2, 3, heating the intermediate part thereof to soften by conduction of electricity from the clamps 2, 3 or by a gas burner then approaching the one clamp to the other clamp to form a bulging part 4 in the heated intermediate part. The clamps 2, 3 are removed from the material 1 and the material is pressed to an L shape with the part 4 as a curving part by means of a press die 5 provided with side dies 6, 6.
