Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a sliding contact material having low and stable contact resistance as well as improved lubricity and wear resistance and reducing irregularity in the number of revolutions of a commutator by adding specified amounts of Zn and Cd to Ag. CONSTITUTION:A sliding contact material is obtd. by adding 0.5-6wt% Zn and 0.5-3wt% Cd to Ag. The contact material having said composition has high lubricity and superior wear resistance. The contact chip of the commutator of a small-sized motor made of the contact material produces little powder owing to wear and generates no noise during sliding along a brush contact. The contact material has low and stable contact resistance, so irregularity in the number of revolutions of the commutator is considerably reduced.

Ag, which has excellent conductivity, has traditionally been used as a sliding contact material.
-Cu alloy has been used, but since Ag-Cu alloy has low lubricity and poor wear resistance, if this Ag-Cu alloy is used to manufacture and use contact pieces around the commutator of a small motor. Contact with the brush contact generates abrasion powder, which causes noise, and also changes the contact resistance with the brush contact.
The rotational speed of the commutator varied widely and became unstable.

The present invention has been made in order to eliminate the disadvantages of the present invention.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a sliding contact material that improves the lubricity of an Ag-Cu alloy and improves its wear resistance, and also has a low and stable contact resistance, and reduces and stabilizes variations in the rotational speed of a commutator.

The sliding contact material of the present invention contains 0.5 to 6 Zn in Ag.
Cd is added in an amount of 0.5 to 3% by weight.

In the sliding contact material of the present invention, Zn and Cd are respectively added to Ag in order to improve the lubricity and arc resistance of Ag. If it exceeds this, in the case of Zn, it becomes too hard and the opposing contact material becomes severely worn, and in the case of Cd, the contact resistance becomes high.

The sliding contact material according to the embodiment of the present invention and the conventional sliding contact material having the compositions shown in the right column of the table below have a thickness of 0.
2fi contact pieces were made, and these contact pieces were attached to the top and bottom of the outer circumferential surface of a commutator 1 with a diameter of 6 iris and a length of 9 iris, which had three contact pieces on the outer periphery as shown in the drawing. A rotation test was conducted on the commutator 1 under the test conditions described below, with brush contacts 3 having three brush wires 2 each having a diameter of 0.25 mm and a length of 10 ai being brought into sliding contact so as to face each other. 1a
When we measured the wear depth of the commutator (2) and the variation in the rotational speed of the commutator (2), we obtained the results shown in the right column of the table below. Test condition type Pressure: 12 ■ Current: DC 60mA Commutator rotation speed: 280 Orpm Commutator rotation time: 500 hours Brush contact contact crab 5g/3 pieces As is clear from the table above, the wear of the contact piece of the conventional example The depth was 3 to 5.577 μm, whereas the wear depth of the contact piece of the example was 2 to 3 μm, which was significantly reduced, indicating that the contact piece had excellent wear resistance. Furthermore, while the variation in rotational speed of the commutator with the contact piece of the conventional example was 7.5 to 10%, the variation of the rotational speed of the commutator with the contact piece of the example was 3 to 4%, which was significant. It can be seen that it is decreasing.

As detailed above, the sliding contact material of the present invention has high lubricity (excellent wear resistance), so the contact piece of the commutator of a small motor made using this material is free from abrasion particles when sliding with the brush contact. The contact resistance is low and stable, and the variation in the rotational speed of the commutator of a small motor is greatly reduced, which is an excellent effect.
