2. Description of the Related Art In recent years, meters for vehicles have been adopted with illuminated needles to improve the visibility of the needles, especially at night. Such meters have a light emitting source located near the pointer, and light is guided to the pointer via a light guiding member such as a transparent acrylic plate or an optical fiber to illuminate the pointer.
Alternatively, a light emitting element is provided on the pointer itself to directly illuminate the pointer.

When the vehicle speed is lower than 30 km/A, the output of the comparator 27 is at a low level, the AND circuit 31 is inactive, the light emitting diode 6R is off, and the pointer 5 is illuminated in green by the light emitting diode 6G. has been done. When the vehicle speed exceeds 30 Km/A, the output of the comparator 27 becomes the NO level, the AND circuit 31 is activated, and the pulse signal pc is applied to the light emitting diode 6R through the AND circuit 61. The light emitting diode 6R flashes in response to this pulse signal pc, illuminating the pointer 5 in red. In this way, the blinking light of the pointer warns the driver that the vehicle speed is higher than a certain vehicle speed.

As explained above, according to the present invention, the control circuit controls the light emitting element to change the illumination of the pointer based on the signal from the six sensors that electrically detect the driving state of the vehicle. In addition to improving visibility, the display system can be provided with a warning function or various display functions, and the display system can be made more compact. Furthermore, a groove is formed at the base of the pointer which is fixed to the drive shaft of the meter,
A light emitting element for illuminating the pointer is housed in this groove, and the light emitting element is fixed in the groove by a cover attached to the base of the pointer, so that the workability of setting the meter is improved.
