Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a masking tape for plating which permits simple and quick masking, by providing a surface film layer having chemical resistance on one surface of a sheetlike base material which does not melt in a molten zinc bath and forming a self-adhesive layer on the other surface. CONSTITUTION:A masking tape or sheet 1 is formed by providing a surface film layer 2 with an adhesive agent (or a self-adhesive agent) 5 on one side of a sheetlike base material 3, and providing a self-adhesive layer 4 on the other. The layer 2 is formed of a plastic film or the like having chemical resistance, and is made to about 0.01-0.1mm. thick. Org. or inorg. fibers which do not melt in a molten zinc bath are used for the material 3 and the amt. of said fibers to be used is about 20-100g/m<2>. A polyacrylic acid self-adhesive agent or the like is used for the layer 4, which preferably carbonizes in about 2-4min in the zinc bath and the carbonized product of which sticks tentatively on the adherend.

Structures such as the two gymnasiums and heated swimming pools are always coated with zinc plating, which has excellent corrosion resistance. The J# high tension construction method is adopted for the steel frames and steel pipes of these structures. This construction method involves making the parts of the structure that are to be connected unplated in advance, and then overlapping the surfaces of these unplated parts. This is a method of tightening bolts, etc. to increase the friction coefficient due to rusting, thereby strengthening the bond between the two. Masking 1 to obtain this non-plated area has traditionally been a two-component type of epoxy paint. To be used, mix the il + 2 liquids and dilute with bath salt; (

+ 141 hours of curing treatment Because the paint forms a solid layer on the adherend such as an iron vibrator by passing through the galvanizing bath, a complicated process such as scraping off the solid layer paint with a grinder is required.

The surface film layer 2 is chemical resistant and can withstand pre-treatments such as degreasing, preliminary treatment, and flash treatment in the normal bath-dip galvanizing process shown in the table below. This surface film layer 2 is composed of a plastic film or a synthetic rubber sheet. Examples include low #5 and high density polyethylene, polypropylene, tetrafluoromodified tyrene copolymers, and vinyl fluoride.

Examples include polyacrylic acid adhesives, natural rubber adhesives, and synthetic rubber adhesives. As an adhesive, it is carbonized in a molten zinc bath and carbonized in 2 to 4 minutes, for example, in cold melted lead at about 40°C to about 500°C, and the carbide temporarily adheres to the adherend 6. The preferred embodiments of masking using the masking tape or sheet of the present invention are as follows.

When masking, use the above masking tape or sheet 1? The adhesive 1-4 is used to attach the mask to the part of the adherend such as an iron pipe or an iron pipe. Next, this is subjected to galvanizing through the steps shown in the table above. The surface film layer 2 is chemical resistant and is degreased in the pretreatment process.

The tape or sheet 1 is not damaged in any way by either the acid treatment S or the flux treatment. In the next plating step, the surface film layer 2 melts and floats on the surface of the zinc yukata. When the sheet-like base material 3 is an organic fiber such as cotton cloth, the sheet-like base material 3 is carbonized with the adhesive layer 4. Since this carbonized layer remains layered in the predetermined mask area, it exhibits the desired masking effect. This part is not plated with zinc. When the sheet-like base material 3 is an inorganic fiber such as a glass nonwoven fabric, the sheet-like base material is supported by the carbonized vlJr of the adhesive layer 4 without being carbonized. In this case as well, the carbide of the adhesive layer 4 forms a layer on the portion to be masked and exhibits the desired masking effect. In the finishing process after plating, this carbide is easily removed using a wire brush or the like.

In the plating process, the fiber-based cotton cloth and adhesive carbonize and cover the surface of the iron plate to be masked, producing the desired masking effect. The surface film, low-density polyethylene film, decomposes in the bath and floats on the surface of the zinc yukata. In the finishing process after plating, this carbonized layer was simply removed with a feather.

One side of this double-sided adhesive sheet was laminated with the above tetrafluoroethylene copolymer film to form a masking tape. This tape, J4UL in thickness, was wrapped once around the area to be masked of an iron plate with a width of 50 mm and a length of 400 mm, so as to fit in the gap 4. This was subjected to bath-dip galvanizing in the step shown in the light above.
However, even if the processing temperature and processing time are the most severe conditions, there is no damage to the tetrafluoroethylene copolymer film. Unacceptable force 1 - 0 Next, in the plating process, the adhesive layer is carbonized and this carbonized layer should be used as a predetermined mask.
The entire surface was covered with an amount of 1b, which was supported by the glass nonwoven fabric, and the desired masking effect was achieved. In the finishing process after plating, the carbonized layer was easily removed by lightly rubbing the glass nonwoven fabric with a wire brush.

By using the masking tape or sheet of the present invention, not only can all the steps required for conventional paint-type masking be omitted, but it is also excellent in terms of safety and health as it is free of toxicity caused by organic solvents and hardening agent IC. It is possible to perform production under the environment. Furthermore, since no masking material that would stick to the layer is used in the plating process, the masking part can be easily exposed in the finishing process after plating, which greatly reduces the number of man-hours and prevents damage. 0 that can maintain the accuracy of the attachment
