Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a storage battery which shows excellent resistance to vibration by arranging a holding piece at the upper end of electrode plate group and by injection molding of a supporting member integrated to the upper surface of the holding piece and the internal side surface of electrolyzer. CONSTITUTION:An electrode plate group 4 is inserted into an electrolyzer 1 and a holding piece 9 is arranged at the upper end of electrode plate group 4 at a right angle to the electrode plate surface. The fused synthetic resin 13 is injected while the holding piece 9 is held by the bottom force of die 12. The electrode plate group 4 is rigidly fixed through the holding piece 9. As a result, the melt synthetic resin 13 flows up to the inside of electrode plate group 4 during injection molding owing to the effect of holding piece 9, giving no adverse effect on the battery performance. Moreover, since strength of electrolyzer is enhanced by providing the holding piece 9 and supporting member 11, warpage of separator 2 of the electrolyzer 1 can be prevented at the time of heat sealing with the cover and moreover thickness of side wall of electrolyzer can also be reduced.

A method has been proposed in which a mold is placed on the upper end of the electrode plate group and the fixed piece is injection molded. However, with this method, there is a risk that the molten synthetic resin injected during molding may flow down into the inside of the electrode plate group, reducing battery performance.

Next, the procedure for assembling the storage battery of the present invention will be explained based on the drawings.
First, the electrode plate group 4 obtained by a conventional method is inserted into the battery case 1, and a holding piece 9 as shown in FIG. 5 is placed at the upper end of the electrode plate group 4 in a direction perpendicular to the electrode plate surface. At this time, it is desirable that the lower end of the holding piece 9 be in contact with the upper end of the negative and anode plates 6.7, and that both ends thereof be in contact with the inner surfaces 6 and 6' of the battery case 1. Next, as shown in FIGS. 6 and 7, the mold 12 is placed on top of the electrode plate group 4, and when the molten synthetic resin 15 is injected with the presser piece 9 held between the lower part of the mold 12, the presser piece A support member 11 is integrally fused to the upper surface of the battery case 9 and the inner surfaces 5 and 5' of the battery case 1. Due to the action of the support member 11, the electrode plate group 4 is firmly fixed via the presser piece 9 as shown in FIGS. 1 to 4.

As described above, in the present invention, the holding piece 9 having the recess 10 on the lower surface into which the upper part of the separator plate 5 fits is disposed on the upper end of the electrode plate group 4, and the holding piece 9 is placed on the upper surface of the holding piece 9 and inside the battery case 1. Side 6・
Since the supporting member 11 is injection molded integrally with the supporting member 6', the electrode plate group 4 is securely fixed by the supporting member 11 via the holding piece 9, and the action of the holding piece 9 prevents melting during injection molding. The synthetic resin 16 flows down to the inside of the electrode plate group 4,
There is no negative effect on battery performance. Furthermore, the strength of the battery case is increased by providing the presser piece 9 and the support member 11.
