Claims

a radiator inlet passage communicating a cooling water outlet of the engine with a radiator inlet; a bypass passage branched from the radiator inlet passage; one end connected to the radiator outlet;
and a radiator outlet passage whose other end merges with the bypass passage, a pump inlet passage that communicates the junction of both roads with the water pump inlet, and a main that is disposed at the junction and opens and closes the radiator outlet passage. A cooling device for an internal combustion engine, comprising a thermostat provided with a valve and a bypass valve that opens and closes the bypass passage, and an auxiliary passage that constantly communicates the bypass passage and the pump inlet passage.
