Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain flame tinted in a color peculiar to metal, by dissolving an alkaline earth metal compd. containing water of crystallization in the molecule in a hydrophilic group-containing organic solvent and igniting the solution. CONSTITUTION:An alkaline earth metal compd. such as chloride or carbonate containing water of crystallization in the molecule (e.g. CuCl2.2H2O) is dissolved in an organic solvent having a hydrophilic group in the structure, selected from among univalent and polyvalent alcohols (e.g. CH3OH), and the solution is ignited to obtain flame tinted in a color peculiar to the metal. USE:Lighter, sterilization of medical instruments, illumination, lamp, neon lamp and fishery.

[Detailed Description of the Invention] This invention uses a chemical method in the future that changes the color of the flame (dark green, deep red, purple) and uses simple i4L chemicals that can be used to sterilize lighters, medical instruments, etc. Metals that have water of crystallization in their molecules, such as chlorides and carbonates of alkaline earth metals that require a high degree of chemical transformation, are poured into an organic medium (-drop alcohol to polyalcohol) that has a hydrophilic group in its structure. The ignited flame develops a color due to the atomic spectrum unique to the metal.
