Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the wear resistance of the side of a belt by a method wherein a expansible woven cloth lined with a gum arabic is cut to a specified length and both ends thereof are butted together by sewing or welding to form a tubular protective cloth. CONSTITUTION:A woven cloth lined with a gum arabic as material for a reinforced cloth layer 13 and protective cloth layers 14 and 14 of a toothed belt 11 is cut according to the shape of the toothed belt 11 to obtain a unit woven cloth 22. Selvages 22a and 22a thereof 22 butted together by a machine sewing or a welding so as to be long enough to be the circumferential length of a molding die 23. Then, it is cut to roughly the same length of the molding die 23 and both ends thereof are butted together by a machine sewing or the like to form a tubular woven cloth 24. The woven cloth 24 is applied for the molding die 23 with a flange 23a and after both side rims thereof reaches the molding die 23, a core cord 15 is wound thereon and then, an unvulcanized cover rubber sheet 26 thereon.

In general, in a drive system using a toothed belt, under normal operating conditions, the toothed belt is applied to one of the left and right pulleys when the toothed belt force is wound around the pulley. Therefore, conventionally, core cords have been prepared to suppress the force by combining two types of strands: S-strand and Z-strand. The belt is deviated 10,000 degrees to the right.

Therefore, as shown in FIG.
A flange is provided on the flange, and a toothed belt 1 is attached to the flange.
However, with such a structure, the flange comes into contact with the belt side of the i-attached belt 1, which causes the belt side to wear out and damage the core. The cord may become frayed or frayed, and in some cases, worn rubber powder or core cord may become caught between the pulley and the toothed belt, preventing smooth engagement between the pulley and the toothed belt. This causes a problem in that the toothed belt rides on the teeth of the pulley, leading to sudden breakage.

Example/(FIGS. 3 and 2) First, as shown in FIG. 3, a rubber-starched woven fabric (for example, A woven fabric whose warp is X6 nylon yarn and whose weft is wool yarn is cut according to the shape of the toothed belt 11 to obtain a unit woven fabric 22. In addition, in FIG. 3, the length L is the sum of the belt width and twice the belt thickness of the toothed belt 11. In addition, when the height of the teeth of the toothed belt 11 is high, there is a risk that wrinkles will occur in the woven fabric having the above-mentioned structure. It is desirable to use a woolen woven fabric or stockinette knitted fabric.

The woven fabric 21, which will become the reinforcing fabric layer 16 and the protective fabric layer 14, is coated with rubber for abrasion resistance by sizing or calendar friction, and is then applied to the base fabric by sizing or calendar topping. If the belt is constructed by applying colored rubber (for example, white or blue) by calender topping via adhesive rubber, the belt life can be judged by the colored rubber being exposed due to wear of the base fabric. Note that the toothed belt 11 manufactured by the method of the above embodiment
As shown in FIG. 2, the reinforcing fabric layer 16 is formed of seven woven fabrics, or the belt tooth surface is required to have more wear resistance than the belt side surface. As shown in the figure, the reinforcing fabric layer 16 may be constructed by laminating two or more woven fabrics. In this case, for example, the inner woven fabric 13a is a stockinette woven fabric, and the outer woven fabric 131) is a woolen woven fabric.

With the above structure, according to the present invention, the protective cloth can be attached to the side surface of the toothed belt that contacts one flange of the pulley, so the wear resistance on the side surface of the belt is improved and the life of the belt is increased. As the belt width increases, it becomes possible to reduce the belt width, and in addition, it is possible to easily manufacture a toothed belt with excellent quietness.
