[Detailed Description of the Invention] The present invention relates to an improvement of a safety device for a sealed battery.

A conventional cylindrical sealed nickel cadmium battery has a cap 1 on the top that also serves as an anode terminal, and a valve device is provided in a space 2 of the cap 1. The valve device includes a spring 3 and a rubber valve body 4. Since the number of parts is 3 or 4, it requires a lot of man-hours to assemble, and therefore the manufacturing price is high.
In addition, since it is necessary to keep the valve pressure constant, it is not possible to apply an external impact to the cap 1, and it is not possible to uniformly heat the cap 1 during soldering.

The present invention eliminates the above-mentioned drawbacks by forming an exhaust hole on at least one of the top or bottom surface of the recess of the battery case formed on the outside of the caulking shoulder, and adjusting the plate thickness of the recess to the thickness of the recess of the battery case. By making the cap thinner than the other parts, and by placing a hard spacer in the recess to close the exhaust hole, the cap can be used exclusively for the terminal, and the manufacturing cost can be reduced.

In the present invention, the cap body 11 has only an anode terminal, and U
The U-shaped recess 13 has an exhaust hole 12 on at least one of the top or bottom surface of the recess 12, and a flat hole made of hard synthetic resin such as nylon is provided in the U-shaped recess 13 in the circumferential direction of the recess 13. The spacer 14 is positioned and the upper part of the battery can 8 is caulked to fix the upper cover 6.

In the battery according to the present invention, as shown in FIG. Since the thickness is slightly thinner than the thickness of the battery case 8 other than the recessed part 13 and has a U-shape, stress concentrates on the iron part and deforms it into the shape shown in FIG. 12 is opened, and gas is exhausted to the outside through the exhaust hole 12 as shown by the solid arrow.

Further, the spacer 14 does not suffer from the same deterioration that occurs when an elastic backing undergoes repeated deformation.
