Abstract

PURPOSE:To restrain occurrence of slime in a paper stuff, to prevent defective appearance and poor formation of the paper, and to obtain the superior photographic printing paper by adding a specified compd. to the paper material. CONSTITUTION:An intended purpose is achieved by adding to a paper stuff a thiazoline type compd. represented by structural formula ( I ) or (II) as a slime controller. An amt. of said compd. to be added depends upon a kind of pulp, kinds of paper strength enhancing agent and sizing agent, and amts. of them to be used, but the range of 10-200ppm of the solid material for paper making is preferable. Either of the continuous method of adding it together with the paper strength enhancing agent and a defoaming agent at the same time, and the intermittent impact addition method may be used.

However, most slime control agents, even though they have a slime control effect, have side effects such as excessive foaming during the process, impairing the hue and size of the product, and are dangerous to the human body. It has drawbacks such as giving a bad impression to the silver salt emulsion used as paper.
