In a sewing machine that obtains cloth feeding motion in the back and forth direction of the feed dog by moving the feed base with the feed dog attached alternately back and forth and up and down, the feed dog can be moved in the left and right directions with respect to the feed base, but cannot be moved in the front and back direction. At the same time, the left and right side walls of the feed dog are clamped by a feed dog guide supported movably in the left and right directions on the lower surface of the throat plate, and the feed dog is guided immovably in the left and right directions with respect to the feed dog guide. On the other hand, a left and right feed lever is attached to the feed dog guide, and the left and right feed lever is swung by a left and right feed cam that rotates in synchronization with the lower shaft, and the left and right feed rod is controlled by an actuator that operates according to the left and right feed data by the amount of rocking.
