Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a sliding contact material using oxides which are produced during sliding as a lubricant and having improved wear resistance by adding small amounts of one or more among Nb, In, Ba and Cd and an Fe group metal to a Pd-Ru alloy having a specified composition. CONSTITUTION:This sliding contact material is obtd. by adding 0.5-15wt% one or more among Nb, In, Ba and Cd to an alloy material consisting of 87-93wt% Pd and 7-13wt% Ru without changing the ratio in the composition or by further adding 0.01-0.5wt% Fe group metal such as Ni. Oxides of one or more among Nb, In, Ba and Cd are produced in the sliding contact material during sliding, and the oxides act as a lubricant to improve the wear resistance. The contact material produces little powder owing to wear and hardly generates noise, so a brush contact having stable and low contact resistance can be obtd.

The reason why at least one type of Cd is added in an amount of 0.5 to 15% by weight is to generate an appropriate amount of oxide that becomes a lubricant in order to improve the wear resistance of the alloy material, and if it is less than 0.5% by weight, If the amount of oxide generated is small, it cannot exhibit its effect as a lubricant, and if it exceeds 15% by weight, the amount of oxide generated increases, contact resistance becomes high, and it becomes unstable.

The reason for adding 0.01 to 0.5% by weight of group metals is to refine the crystal grains and further improve wear resistance.
.. If it is less than 0.01% by weight, the effect of grain refinement will not appear,
If it exceeds 0.5% by weight, it will interfere with the oxide acting as a lubricant.

Next, brush wires with a wire diameter of 0.1 m were made using the sliding contact material according to the present invention and the conventional sliding contact material having the composition shown in the left column below, and each wire was cut into 8 lengths. , two in parallel and one end with width IQw+, length 13fi, thickness 0.2
A brush contact was made by welding it to a crane base material and bending a 2R (3) arc-shaped contact part on the other end. Then, each brush contact was brought into contact with a disk-shaped commutator, and the commutator was rotated in forward and reverse directions to perform a sliding test under the following test conditions, and the wear amount and contact resistance were measured. The results shown in the column were obtained.

This is simply due to the fact that the sliding contact material of the present invention, which constitutes the brush wire of the brush contacts of Examples 1 to 5, is
This is because oxides of n, Ba, Cd, etc. are generated, and these oxides act as lubricants, improving wear resistance. Moreover, since the oxide is soft, it is easily removed by the sliding action, so the contact resistance remains unchanged. In particular, the reason why the amount of wear of the brush contact of Example 5 is even smaller than that of the brush contacts of Examples 1 to 4 is that Fe group metal is added to the sliding contact material of the present invention that constitutes the brush wire. This is because the crystal grains are fine and dispersed, further improving wear resistance.

As detailed above, according to the sliding contact material according to the present invention,
Compared to conventional sliding contact materials, it has significantly superior wear resistance, generates extremely little abrasion powder, and has the effect of providing a brush contact with low and stable contact resistance and almost no noise. .
