Abstract

PURPOSE:To decrease the number of rolling mill stands and to reduce construction cost by disposing >=3 units of rolling mills which can reverse the rolling directions in proximity to each other, providing coilers on the inlet and outlet sides thereof and making reverse rolling possible. CONSTITUTION:A slab conveyed from a slab producing installation is roughly rolled by >=3 units of rolling mills 2 which permit reversing in rolling direction. The roughly rolled bar is run backward and is rolled. The strip 1 rolled in the 2nd pass is once coiled on an intermediate coiler 5. The strip is then cooled by a cooler 3 and is coiled on a coiler 4, whereby a final product is obtd. The number of rolling mill stands is decreased and the contruction cost is reduced by such installation.
