Abstract

PURPOSE:To assure high butting accuracy and to obtain a good result of welding without any strain in the butt end parts, by controlling stepwise the moving speed for butting coil materials. CONSTITUTION:The end part of a preceding coil S1 moving in an arrow direction and the top part of a succeeding coil material S2 are clamped respectively by means of the upper and lower clamps 2a, 2b and 3a, 3b of clamping devices 2, 3 on a stationary side and a movable side. A cutting device 1 is advanced into between both devices 2 and 3 by a driving device 7 and is stopped on the line, then the lower blade 6 of the device 1 is moved upward to a home position by a cylinder 6a, whereafter an upper blade 5 is moved downward by a cylinder 5a to cut the end parts of the materials S1, S2. The device 3 is advanced at a high speed by a cylinder 11, and is stopped apart at a spacing (e) just prior to butting. A backing strip 12 is pressed in the butt end parts of the materials S1, S2 and the cut end parts are sandwiched from the bottom side of the clamps 2a, 2b. The device 3 is advanced this time at a low speed to butt the end parts of the materials S1, S2; thereafter, the butt parts are welded along the butt line by a welding torch 21.

行なうための条件として精度の良い突合せ面を得ること
が必要である。したがって、従来は若干加圧気味にコイ
ル材端部を突当てるように調節しているのが一般的であ
る。
