Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent an increase of a transmission loss due to the fact that an optical fiber is bent excessively, by fitting a connector base having a holder by which an optical fiber connector can be inserted and drawn out freely, to a connecting box, so that the direction of the holder can be switched freely to the front and the side of the connecting box. CONSTITUTION:A connector base 7 is constituted so that a holder 15 of the connector base 7 is directed to the front or the side of a connecting box 2, by making a rotary shaft 17 freely rotatable around a rotary shaft 17, and replacing hinges 18, 19 to the connecting box 2. Therefore, even if an optical fiber 5 is wound and bent in the wide width direction of width of the connector base 7 and its radius is taken large, when an optical fiber connector 28 is inserted into the holder 15 or the connector 28 is drawn out, the inserting or drawing-out work can be executed easily by directing the holder 15 to the front of the connecting box 2.

Conventionally, in order to connect an optical fiber cable, as shown in FIG. 1, a connector base b' is installed in a connection box a, and an optical fiber connector is inserted into and removed from a holder C attached to the connector base b'. Further, when connecting optical fiber cables, an extra length is provided at the end of the optical fiber so that tension is not directly applied to the connecting portion or for vertical processing of the connecting portion. These extra lengths are wound around a bobbin d provided in the connection box a and stored all together in the connection box. When storing the extra length of the fiber in a junction box with a narrow depth, it is better to wind the extra length in the width direction of the junction box where the winding diameter can be increased, rather than winding it in the depth direction of the junction box. Further, when inserting the optical fiber connector into the holder C of the connector base b, it is possible to easily insert it in a natural posture by inserting it from the front direction of the junction box a to the depth direction. However, if the optical fiber is wound in the width direction of the junction box and oriented toward the front of the holder CF junction box, in order to insert the optical fiber connector into holder C, the connector must be pulled out to the front of the junction box. There are problems in that the work is troublesome and that the optical fiber is bent excessively near the connector, increasing transmission loss.

As described above, the present invention is achieved by replacing the hinge (lIH') on the connector base (the force is rotatable around the axis of rotation 1) and the connection box (2). The holder (15) of the connector base (7) can be oriented toward the front of the junction box (2) or to the side, so the optical fiber (5) can be attached to the connector base (with a wide width of force). Even if the bending radius is increased by winding it in the same direction, the same connector (28) inserted into the holder (lω)
28) When pulling out the holder 09 all connection box (
2) By facing the front, the insertion and removal operations can be easily performed. Furthermore, after the insertion and extraction operations are completed, the holder (15) can be turned to the t-side, so that the bending radius of the optical fiber (5) does not become small and the transmission loss does not increase.

Furthermore, if the connector base (7) is made rotatable as described in claim 2, the orientation of the holder 0ω can be changed extremely easily.

Furthermore, if the extra length accommodating part a21t is formed in the connector base (7) as described in claim 4, the optical fiber extra length 0υ can be wound and accommodated in an orderly manner without reducing the bending radius. This eliminates the possibility of the optical fibers (5) becoming entangled or damaged within the junction box (2).
