地局からの送信とを共に受信できる範囲内にある移動無
線局では第1の搬送波周波数の受信レベルと第2の搬送
波周波数の受信レベルとを比較し、受信レベルの大きい
方の搬送波周波数に対する受信出力を利用するという方
法が用いられている。オlの基地局も第2の基地局も一
般には同一情報を送出しているので、移動無線局は最も
良好な受信状態を提供する基地局を利用することができ
るー
移動無線局受信装置の切換方法として最も簡単なものは
、常に受信レベルの大きい方の搬送波周波数を選んで受
信することであるが、この方法では、両基地局からの電
界レベルが同程度である領域内において頻繁な切換が行
われ、切換により発生する雑音等のため通信の品質低下
を来すという欠点があった。す々わち、電界レベルは種
々な原因によって複雑々微小量変化をするので、両基地
局からの電界レベルが同程度である領域内では、両方の
電界レベルが交差する地点が多数発生しこのような地点
を移動無線局が通過するごとに切換が行われるからであ
