Abstract

PURPOSE:To make a paper supply operation smooth by providing a cleaning member made of solid material adjacently to but without touching the surface of a rotary paper supply member. CONSTITUTION:A plate-shaped cleaning member 13 made of rubber, cloth, metal and the like is stuck on a cleaning member fitting cover 14 in a condition of no touch with a paper supply roller 6. When said roller 6 is rotated to send out a sheet 18, dust and paper powder or the like on said sheet 18 begin to stick onto the periphery of the roller 6 and then electrostatically move to the cleaning member 13. Thus, the peripheral face of the roller 6 may be cleaned and coefficient of friction on the surface of the roller 6 may be maintained at the specified value.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a cleaning device for rotating paper feeding members such as a paper feeding roller and a paper feeding belt in a paper feeding device.

Electrophotographic copying machines, offset printing machines, and similar machines are equipped with a sheet feeder for feeding sheets, such as transfer sheets or printing paper, to a destination location.

This paper feeding device, for example, stacks a large number of sheets in a paper feeding box, places a paper feeding roller in opposition to the top surface of the topmost sheet, and rotates this paper feeding roller.
It is well known that a paper feeding system in which the topmost sheet is fed is already in general use.

In the above-mentioned paper feeding method, the fed sheet is fed out by the friction between the paper feeding roller and the sheet that is in contact with it. Conditions such as the smoothness of the circumferential surface, the coefficient of friction, and the state of adhesion of dust greatly influence the reliable feeding of the sheet.

Conventionally, to remove dust and paper powder, there were cleaning devices equipped with a cleaning pel that was in contact with the circumferential surface of the paper feed roller or a belt with a brush-like surface, but these devices were large and complicated.
