A method of measuring roll spacing by passing a pair of open/close arms, one end of which is supported on the same axis, through a group of rolls in a continuous casting machine and detecting the rotation angle of the arms as the arms open and close. A roll interval detector for a continuous casting machine, characterized in that the pair of arms are each pivoted at a different position on the same axis.
