Abstract

PURPOSE:To shorten a work time, and to execute connection having no variations of a connection loss, by installing an optical fiber small piece reaching the center part of a small hole from the end face of the connecting part of a plug base body which has an optical fiber inserting hole on its one end and is provided with an observing small hole opened orthogonally to said hole. CONSTITUTION:On a plug base body 1, an optical fiber inserting hole 3 is provided so as to pass through an optical fiber cord receiving port 4, and an observing small hole 5 is provided so as to orthogonal to said hole. One end 7 is stuck and fixed so that a mirror-cut or polished optical fiber small piece 6 reaches the center part of the small hole 5 from a connecting part end 2. A jacket and primary coating are removed, an optical fiber cord 8 which has mirror-cut the fiber length to prescribed length is inserted from the cord receiving port 4, is connected, observing from the small hole 5 by a microscope, and the small hole 5 is filled with matching oil. In this way, a work time is shortened, and it is possible to execute connection having no variations of a connection loss.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to an on-site assembly type optical fiber connector plug. Conventional on-site assembly type optical fiber connectors are made by inserting an optical fiber into the hole of the plug and fixing the fiber and the plug with adhesive. Later, a method was adopted in which the end face of the plug was polished. The disadvantages of Jin's method are (1) Because the polishing is done on site, sufficient polishing accuracy cannot be expected, which causes variations in connector performance. (2) A polisher must be brought to the site, and the number of connections is If the number increases, a lot of time is required for polishing. The purpose of the present invention is to provide a connector that allows connector manufacturers to polish the end face of the plug with sufficient precision, and to maintain sufficient performance in the field by simply cutting the fiber of the optical fiber bar code into a mirror and attaching it to the plug without the need for polishing. The purpose is to provide a plug.

The present invention will now be explained with reference to the drawings showing embodiments. In FIG. 1, a plug base 1 is provided with an optical fiber insertion hole 3 penetrating from a connection end 2 of the plug base to an optical fiber cord socket 4. The optical fiber insertion hole 3 is provided with a small hole 5 that intersects with the optical fiber insertion hole 3 at right angles and opens on the outer surface of the plug base. The small hole 5 is provided for microscopic observation of the butt state of the optical fibers when connecting the optical fiber bar code during on-site construction, and its diameter is about α5 to 1 m when the green optical fiber is 125 μm. As shown in FIG. 2, a small piece of optical fiber 6 whose one end 7 is mirror-cut or whose surface is polished is adhesively fixed to the plug base 1 so as to reach the connecting end 2 of the plug base and the center of the sill hole 5. There is.

Polished and etched. The actual connection using the plug having the above structure will be explained with reference to FIG. Glue and fix the optical fiber 8 to the plug at the 9 position where it butts against the optical fiber piece 6 attached to the end of the plug.
By performing this butting operation while observing the small hole 5 with a microscope from above, a connection without variation can be achieved.
