Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration of printing quality due to the concentration of the wrinkles of an ink film by a very simple means by a method wherein a dummy picture is printed immediately before the printing of a necessary picture. CONSTITUTION:The dummy picture, having a straight line or a curved line gently sloping with respect to the feeding direction of a recording paper at least at a part thereof, is printed immediately before printing a main picture by the thermal transfer recording method. For an actual example, the dummy picture DG1, consisting of a rectangular triangle, and the dummy picture DG2, consisting of parallel lines with respect to a printing direction, are printed other than the main printing picture G1. By these printings, fine wrinkles on the ink film IF1 are concentrated into the direction of an arrow sign A1 along the oblique side of the dummy picture DG1 consisting of the rectangular triangle. The concentratins of the wrinkles are collected to an area E1 due to the dummy picture DG2 consisting of straight lines and the main picture G1 will never be influenced by the wrinkles even though any type of printing pattern is printed thereon.

Conventionally, it is known that wrinkles in the interfilm in printing and marking devices that employ the natural transfer recording method are extremely harmful to obtaining good print quality. This change causes wrinkles on the surface of the ink.If these fine wrinkles concentrate in one place during printing, they become large wrinkles that significantly reduce the adhesion between the recording paper and the ink film and deteriorate the print quality.

The ink film 171Kti has fine wrinkles as shown in the explanatory diagram 'h' showing the state of the facing recording paper R11 and the interfilm Iv1 inserted between the recording paper R11 and the thermal head HD1. If the fine wrinkles are small enough, they can be crushed with pressure between the platen IFI and the ink film xr1 and the ink film xr1.
yl is in complete contact with ζζ as shown in Figure 3 (when a screen with two parallel straight lines Xsl and Xa2 is printed on the recording paper Ra1, the wrinkles on the interfilm x1pl immediately after printing are as shown in Figure 4) As shown in Figure 5, wrinkles remain between straight lines III and L2. Figure 5 shows an example of a printing screen that is prone to deterioration of print quality.

Figure 6 is an explanatory diagram of the concentration of wrinkles that occurred on the interfilm 1711 near the intersection of the straight line -3 and the straight lines X and 4. It has significantly decreased to the 9th place. FIG. 7 shows the printing wWt shown in FIG. 5, which was actually printed in the same manner as the number of prints). Printing defects 81 were caused by concentration of wrinkles.

In order to prevent deterioration of print quality due to wrinkles in the interfilm, a method has been proposed in which the width of the Ishita film recording paper is sufficiently narrow and the paper is fed obliquely to the direction of feeding. However, this method has the disadvantage that since the paper feeding direction and the ink film feeding direction are different, two types of mechanisms with different feeding speeds are required, making the mechanism complicated.

As described above, the present invention provides a dummy screen having a gentle gradient in the printing direction immediately before the main m-plane, without changing the structure of the conventionally well-known thermal transfer image recording device. By printing, the wrinkles of the ink film are concentrated in a different area from the area where the main picture is printed.
1. It is possible to prevent deterioration of print quality due to the concentration of wrinkles on the ink film.
