Abstract

PURPOSE:To miniaturize the size of a ring burner and to reduce its weight, by connecting an oxygen chamber and an accetylene chamber provided to the annular base of a ring burner which heats the joined parts of steel tubes partially, with two connecting ports provided to burner nozzles, respectively. CONSTITUTION:Holes 15-1, 15-2, 15-n to fit burner nozzles 20 with desired pitches are provided to the annular base 10 of a burner, and the nozzles 20 are arranged to be directional to the center of an annular base 10. The annular base 10 is provided with an oxygen feed and an accetylene feed systems 13 and 14, along with a cooling water supplying and a water discharging systems 11-1 and 11-2. The rate of oxygen or accetylene to be fed into each nozzle 20 can be controlled by adjusting an adjusting knob 26 or 27, provided to the base body 21, to a suction port 28 or 30 provided to the nozzles 20, respectively.

By the way, in such gas pressure welding, the surfaces of the steel joints are heated to melt or almost melt, so sparks are generated from between the joints or 10,000 molten metal drips, which enters the nozzle hole of the ring burner. If hit, a backfire will occur.

As a result of our research into a burner that satisfies the aforementioned burner backfire prevention and the uniform heating of the base material required for gas pressure welding, we have proposed a burner built into an annular base in Japanese Patent Application No. 55-124071. An acetylene chamber and an oxygen chamber, each connected to the acetylene chamber, are provided concentrically on the nozzle axis, and the opening degrees of the valves of the acetylene chamber and oxygen chamber are variable to adjust the flow rates of acetylene and oxygen. Regarding the base, ring burners placed at equal intervals were set up on Tagawa.
