Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce external parts for timepieces having highly corrosion resistant surfaces by coating Ti on the surfaces of the external parts for timepieces made of stainless steel, brass or zinc alloys by an ion plating method then coating TiN layers thereon. CONSTITUTION:First a Ti film of 0.2mum thickness is formed on the surfaces of external parts for timepieces molded of stainless steel, brass or zinc alloys by an ion plating method. In succession, a TiN layer is formed at about 1.0mum thickness thereon by an ion plating method. Or further the Ti coating layer and the Tin coating layer are again coated thereon alternately. The external parts for timepieces having highly corrosion resistant surfaces which do not peel even under abuse carrying conditions and are free from formation of rust by sweat, etc. are obtained.

を層状に不連続に被覆スルことで、レンホールを阻止す
ることに基づ〈。

のように窒化チタン自体は極めて腐蝕しにくいが、下地
金属のステンレス鋼、黄銅、亜鉛合金がどは、窒化チタ
ンの電気化学的自然電位より若干卑であり、電解質の存
在下では局部電池を形成し、ピンホールを通して下地金
属が腐蝕し、錆として下地金属が表面に溶出するもので
ある。

5.g被覆し、最後に窒化チタンを15μ溝つけ、合計
膜厚1kt5μ鴨とした。
