Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the range of application for a facsimile device, by securing the reception of the coded character information. CONSTITUTION:For the facsimile signal received at a transmission/reception control part 1, the facsimile signal of a prescribed length is first decided as a discriminator at a discriminator interpreting part 2. Then the subsequent facsimile signal is decided as a compressed pattern signal or a character code train. The result of this decision is fed to an output control part 3, and the facsimile signal received at the part 1 is converted into a pattern through a decoding part 4 and then written into a pattern buffer 6. These decoding and pattern writing operations are repeated with a frequency equivalent to a scan line, and the part 3 gives an indication of printing to a printing part 7 when the buffer 6 is filled. Thus a pattern equivalent to a scan line is printed at the part 7. The discriminator is detected at the part 2, and the part 3 decides a character code. Thus the character code is converted into a character pattern through a character pattern converting part 5 and written into the buffer 6.

Conventionally, facsimile machines have not been able to receive coded character information mixed in facsimile signals. However, facsimile machines naturally have the function of receiving signals from other facsimile machines, and if they can receive other coded information in the form of facsimile signals, the utility of facsimile machines will further increase.

The present invention is characterized by having a function of identifying coded character information mixed in a facsimile signal, converting the coded character information into a dot pattern via a character turn generator, and printing it as a facsimile signal. The purpose of this is to utilize the communication function of the facsimile machine to receive coded character information other than information input from the facsimile machine, thereby allowing the facsimile machine to be used for multiple purposes.

Figure 1 shows an embodiment of the present invention, in which 1 is a transmission/reception control unit that exchanges information with the opposite facsimile machine, and 2 is an identifier received by the transmission/reception control unit 1 (identification of compressed pattern information or coded character information). An identifier interpreting section 3 interprets a code that can be used as a code), and an identifier interpreting section 3 determines whether the received facsimile signal is compressed pattern information or coded character information (referred to as a character code) based on the interpretation result of the identifier interpreting section 2, and interprets the compressed pattern information. 4 is a decoding unit that converts compressed pattern information into original pattern information, 5 is a character pattern conversion unit that converts character codes into character patterns; 6 is a pattern buffer having a capacity corresponding to the pattern amount of one scanning line for storing the output pattern of the decoding unit 4 and the character pattern conversion unit 5; and 7 is a print unit. Department.

Before explaining the operation, the Km identifier and the structure of the received facsimile signal will be described. When switching to coded character information transmission during encoded compression pattern information transmission, the identifier inserted before the encoded character information (at the end of the encoded compression pattern information) is the encoding assigned to the compressed pattern information. A compression code allocated by securing one piece of information is used. Also, when switching to encoded compressed pattern information transmission during encoded character information transmission, one of the character codes is inserted as an identifier before the encoded compressed pattern information (at the end of the encoded character information). Use the reserved and assigned character code. Note that as the above two types of identifiers, those whose code patterns match can be used for both (in the case of Jin, there is apparently one identifier).

Additionally, the received facsimile signal is as shown in Figure 2.
It is assumed that compressed pattern information and character code information are included in each area cut into strips in a direction perpendicular to the sub-scanning direction of the facsimile machine.

The operation will now be described assuming that the facsimile apparatus has been synchronized and is ready to receive facsimile signals. The facsimile signal (
The compressed facsimile signal) is first determined by the identifier interpreter 2 as a predetermined length ':1 facsimile signal as an identifier. is determined. Result r1 output control section 3
The facsimile signal received by the transmission/reception control section l is converted into a pattern (original pattern) using the decoding section 4 and written into the pattern buffer 6. This decoding and pattern writing operation is repeated for one scanning line, and the pattern buffer 6
When the amount of data becomes full, the output control section 3 instructs the printing section 7 to print. This causes the print section 7 to have 1
A pattern of scanning lines is printed. This printing operation is repeated until the identifier interpreter 2 detects the identifier again.

Further, if an identifier is subsequently detected, the output control unit 3
determines that the following facsimile signal is a character code string, converts the character code into a character pattern printed on one scanning line using a character pattern converter, and writes it to the pattern buffer 6 while maintaining a predetermined character spacing. It's crowded. After repeating this for one scanning line, the output control section 3 instructs the printing section 7 to print. As a result, a character pattern corresponding to one scanning line is printed on the print section 7. This printing operation is repeated for the number of pixels in the row direction of the character pattern (the row direction of the character pattern designed on the matrix). Thereafter, the output control section 3 performs sub-scanning control for feeding from the scanning line corresponding to the line spacing to the printing section 7, and the processing for printing 1.1 lines is completed. This operation including line spacing control is repeated until the identifier interpreter 2 detects an identifier again.

This operation has been explained assuming that there is one identifier, but even if separate identifiers are provided to identify pattern information and character code information, if the identifier interpreter 2 is equipped with a function to interpret both, the Similar effects can be obtained with the configuration shown in FIG. Note that such an identifier alone cannot necessarily identify whether the following information is a pattern or a character, so it must be determined that, for example, when reception is started, a pattern or character code is being received.

Also, although we have explained that the character spacing and line spacing processing when receiving character code information is fixed, if format control information such as character spacing and line spacing is sent in a predetermined format after the character code identifier, If the following arrangements are made and the output control section 3 is equipped with a variable control function for character spacing and line spacing, documents with variable character spacing, line spacing, etc. can be received using the configuration shown in FIG.

As explained above, since the facsimile device can also receive coded character information, the fan/millimeter device can be used as a character information receiving terminal or a character/graphic mixed information receiving terminal.
