流入するミストが煙突の内壁に付着する水分に吸収され
て濃縮され、ミストのpHが最大0.6にも達するため
、煙突の筒身を構成する材料が短期間で腐食するのはさ
けられず、その保守管理に厄介な手数を要するのけやむ
を得ないものとされていたのである。特に都市ゴミの焼
却炉に用いる煙突は殆んど対策のほどこし7ようがない
とされていた。
