In a disc brake in which a piston operated by braking fluid pressure supplied to a cylinder presses a friction pad against the friction surface of a disc rotor, thereby suppressing rotation of the disc rotor, the piston is made of ceramics, and the piston is made of ceramics. a small diameter portion having an outer diameter smaller than other portions is formed at the end of the piston that contacts the friction pad, and an end plate portion that covers at least a front end surface of the piston that is to contact the friction pad, and an outer periphery of the small diameter portion.
