Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent clogging of a sprue in low pressure casting by pressurizing the molten metal in a heat insulating furnace and holding the molten metal surface in a stalk always constant in the upper position of the stalk. CONSTITUTION:Molten Al 2 is charged under low pressure from a heat insulating furnace 1 into a sprue 8 of a bottom part 7 through a stalk 5 and a sub- riser 6 under low pressure, and is packed into product parts. If in this time the stalk 5 and the sub-riser 6 cool quickly, the molten metal returning to the inside of the furnace 1 through the sprue 8 then through the sub-riser 6 and the stalk 5 upon ending of the packing in the product parts solidifies and clogs the sprue. However, air is forced through a pressurizing pipe 4 into the furnace 1 to keep the metal 2 pressurized; therefore the molten metal level in the stalk 5 is maintained always constant in the upper position of the stalk 5. Thus the cooling of the stalk 5, the sub-riser 6 and the sprue 8 is obviated by the temp. of the metal 2, whereby the clogging of the sprue is prevented.

A feature of the present invention is a method of preventing sprue clogging in low-pressure casting by pressurizing the molten metal in a heat-retaining furnace so that the molten metal level in the stalk can be maintained at a constant position above the stalk at all times.

以下、本発明の実施例を、図面に基づいて説明する。Embodiments of the present invention will be described below based on the drawings.

In the above configuration, the molten aluminum 2 is injected at low pressure from the heat-retaining furnace 1 through the stalk 5 and the sub-riser 6 into the sprue 8 of the lower mold 7, and is filled into the product section.

Well, if the stalk 5 and sub-riser 6 cool down quickly, the filling of the product section will be completed and the molten metal that will return from the sprue 8 to the insulating furnace l through the sub-riser 6 and stalk 5 will solidify and cause sprue clogging. However, air is pressurized into the heat retention furnace 1 through a pressurizing pipe 4, and by pressurizing the molten metal 2, the level of the molten metal in the stoke 5 is always maintained at a constant position above the stoke 5.

Therefore, the stalk 5° supply day 6 and the sprue 8 do not cool down due to the temperature of the molten metal, so the sprue does not become clogged.

As explained above, the method for preventing clogging of the sprue according to this embodiment is to pressurize the upper surface of the molten metal 2 by injecting air into the heat insulating furnace 1 through the pressurizing pipe 4, thereby constantly keeping the molten metal level in the stoke 5. Stoke 5 depending on the water temperature.
.. Since the sub-riser 6 and the sprue 8 are prevented from cooling, the sprue does not become clogged.
