In a permanent magnet rotor in which a plurality of half-moon-shaped permanent magnet pieces are attached at equal intervals to the outer periphery of a permanent magnet core into which a shaft is inserted, this end engages between the adjacent permanent magnet pieces. A permanent magnet type, in which a wedge made of a non-magnetic material is fitted, and this wedge is fixed to the outer periphery of the permanent magnet core with screws.
