Claims

[Claims for Utility Model Registration] An AC power source, a phase control element inserted between the AC power source and a load to control dimming, a switch, and a power transformer connected to the AC power source via the switch. a control circuit that is supplied with power from the power transformer and controls the phase control element; and an auxiliary power source that supplies voltage from the primary side tap of the power transformer to the load during a period when the phase control element is non-conductive. In the dimmer, the switch includes a thyristor inserted between the alternating current power source and the power transformer, and an operation switch that energizes and interrupts the gate current of the thyristor, and when the operation switch is opened. The dimmer is characterized in that the power transformer is cut off from the alternating current source when the current flowing through the power transformer becomes zero.
