Two floating sheets with an L-shaped cross-sectional shape as shown in Figure 1 are combined facing each other on the guide roller shaft of the tillage residue processing device of a tillage machine or the caterpillar of a construction machine to enable relative rotation. A floating seal is used in which both floating sheets are kept in a floating state and supported by an annular backing made of a rubber-like elastic material, and which apply contact pressure to the sliding contact end surfaces.

To explain the details of FIG. 1, the floating seat 1 has an axial portion 2 having a cylindrical shape and a radial portion 3 extending outward from one end of the axial portion 2, and has an L-shaped cross section. An annular projection 5 is attached to the outside of the other end of the axial portion 2 to form an opening, and the backing 7 made of a rubber-like elastic material has a cross section as shown by the chain line on the right side of the figure in the free state before assembly. It forms an annular body in the shape of a substantially parallelogram truncated cone,
The inner end 8 is fitted into the outward opening of the floating sheet 1, and the outer end 9 is inserted into the rotating member 11 and the fixed member 12.
With the combination of the rotating member 11 and the fixed member 12, the chain line in the figure Contact pressure is applied to the two floating sheets, which are compressed and deformed from the free state shown in the figure to the assembled state shown by the solid line, and are combined facing each other to cause the lubricant inside the device to flow outward. It is designed to prevent leakage and to prevent the intrusion of mixed paper etc. from the outside.

In the floating seal configured as described above, foreign matter such as mud, sand, grass, etc. that enters through the gap between the rotating member 11 and the stationary member 12 during machine operation may damage the outer surface of the backing 7. There remains a risk that the backing may be damaged by mistake when using a tool to remove earth and sand remaining in the gap.

In view of the problems in the prior art described above, the present invention protects the backing by covering the outer surface of the backing with a film-like member made of a highly wear-resistant flexible material such as polyurethane rubber, thereby prolonging the service life of the device. It is something that makes you change your mind.

A method of attaching a film-like member using a wear-resistant flexible material is to adhere the film-like member to the outer surface of the backing, but there is some difficulty in adhering both, and the adhesion work is complicated. Therefore, regardless of adhesion, on the inside, the vicinity of the inner edge of the membrane member is held between the radial part of the floating sheet and the inner end of the backing, and on the outside, the membrane member is held in the vicinity of the inner edge of the membrane member on the outside. The inner flange of the outer ring is made up of a cylindrical part extending in the axial direction and an inner flange part extending inward from one end of the cylindrical part, and the outer end of the backing is fitted into the inner flange of the outer ring. By sandwiching the floating sheet between the outer end of the backing and the outer end of the backing, the assembly of the floating sheet, the backing and the membrane member is simple and easy, and the device to the rotating member and the fixed member is simple. It is also strong and effective.

Fig. 2 shows the assembled state of the floating seal of the present invention using an outer ring, and Fig. 3 similarly shows the state before it is attached to a rotating member or a fixed member.
The structure of the floating seat 1 with the radial portion 3 and the annular projection 5 and the backing 7 exhibiting a frustoconical shape is similar to that in the prior art embodiment of FIG. 1 and comprises a metal plate or a rigid and elastic material. A cylindrical portion 22 made of a synthetic resin material and extending in the axial direction.
An outer ring 21 consisting of an inner flange 23 extending inward at one end is connected to the backing 7 such that the inner flange 23 is located on the same side of the backing 7 as the radial portion 3 of the floating sheet 1. A membrane member 25 that is fitted into each other and made of a thin annular body using a wear-resistant and flexible material such as polyurethane rubber connects the radial portion 3 of the floating sheet 1 near the inner edge thereof. Backing 7
1, and the vicinity of the outer edge is sandwiched between the inner flange 23 of the outer ring 21 and the outer end 9 of the backing γ, so as to cover the outer surface of the backing 7. , the assembly of the floating sheet 1, the backing 7, the outer ring 21 and the membrane member 25 assembled as shown in FIG. The backing 7 is attached to the rotating member 11 and the fixed member 12 by being fitted onto the inner circumferential surface 15 formed in the
.. The rotating member 11 and the fixed member 12 are assembled with each other such that contact pressure is applied between the radial portions 3, 3 of both floating seats 1, 1 by the elastic compression of 7.

Although it is possible to strongly adhere the membrane member 25 to the outer surface of the backing 7 without using the outer ring 21, the outer end 9 of the backing 7 can be attached to the rotating member 11. Alternatively, the adhesive between the membrane member 25 and the backing 7 may be peeled off due to deformation of the backing 7 and the membrane member 25 when inserted into the fixed member 12 or due to expansion and contraction of the backing 7 during operation. The vicinity of the inner edge of the membrane member 25 is connected to the radial portion 3 of the floating sheet 1 and the inner edge 8 of the backing 7.
It is preferable to have a structure in which the vicinity of the outer edge of the membrane member 25 is sandwiched between the inner flange 23 of the outer ring 21 and the outer end 9 of the backing 7, in the same way as the structure in which the membrane member 25 is sandwiched between the inner flange 23 of the outer ring 21 and the outer end 9 of the backing 7.
